HEY WASHINGTON, MAYBE YOU NEED TO REREAD YOUR BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
IT IS AN OATH NOT AN OPTION.
In a time of chaos, it helps to pull back. To simplify. To reconnect with the kernel of what matters.
I've been following the town halls, the news coverage, and the endless social media debates about what to do.
Maybe we should start here:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion;
and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
For those unfamiliar, this is the oath taken by our elected officials when they assume office.
It is not just a ceremonial recitation.
It is a sacred promise — and a binding obligation.
It is, quite simply, their basic job description.
And today, far too many who should embody and uphold this oath are not.
This is a pass/fail situation — and Congress, especially the Executive Branch, gets an F.
Right now, they are failing.
All the noise, all the distractions — they mean nothing without a return to law, order, and constitutional governance.
An oath is not a suggestion. It’s a commitment. You fulfill it, or you resign.
Simple — but not easy.
No more excuses.
No more risk aversion.
No more inaction.
The time for talk is over.
The time for action is now.
Honor your oath — or step aside for those who will.
